:bulletpurple:Personality:
Impulsive, reckless, and impatient, Shadefire is quick to react and jumps into confrontations head first, with claws out and teeth barred. Shadefire can be quick to anger, stubborn, and at times a bit insensitive. She snappish at times, and is known to have a sharp tongue. When she speaks she isn't afraid to be blunt, telling it how it is, even if it hurts the feelings of other cats. She does tries to keep this under control, especially when responding to senior warriors, the deputy or clan leader. Shadefire is not the easiest she-cat to get along with, and only has a few friends, if any. Unlike most she-cats Shadefire has no interest in kits. Or even having an apprentice. She finds them irritating. She tries her best to be patient with younger cats, to be helpful, and encouraging, like every good warrior should, but she always ends up snapping and yelling at them. But despite her many faults Shadefire is fiercely loyal to her clan.

:bulletpurple:History:

[Where is the love?]

Shadefire was born as Shadekit on a very stormy afternoon to the warriors, Rainfall and Riversplash. She was not only the only gray colored kit in her litter of seven, but the runt as well. Last to be born and the most frail. The clan's medicine cat, Honeytail, was concerned she wouldn't get enough to eat, competing for milk with her six larger siblings, and wouldn't survive for long. So the medicine cat placed her with another nursing queen, Pebbleshine, who only had one other kit of her own to feed. In hopes that Shadekit would get the milk she needed and grow stronger. Shadekit was well looked after and cared for by Pebbleshine. She soon became stonger and was given back to her mother to be raised with the rest of her litter mates. But Shadekit's kittenhood was painful for her. Though she had grown stronger than she was at birth and was no longer in danger of going to Starclan, she just wasn't up to muster compared to her siblings. Being the weakest in the litter you'd expect Shadekit to recieve extra attention from her parents, but it was the exact opposite. Her mother and father paid her little mind, usually a ear twitch or nod was the only indicator that they even recognized her presents, while her healthy brothers and sisters were lavished with attention and praise. Her parents would often start taking her siblings out to play in the sunshine, leaving Shadekit in the care of the other nursery queens. The queens tried to console her, telling her that her parents didn't mean to make her feel bad and that they just weren't sure how to interact with her now because of how long she had been away from them. Shadekit supposed this was true, but it didn't make the hurt of rejection any less painful.

[As easy as breathing]

Like all kits, Shadekit eventually became an apprentice at six moons, despite her frail health moons before. She was both surprised and delighted when Pebbleshine was chosen as her mentor. Shadepaw vowed to make Pebbleshine proud. From the get go Shadepaw was a hard working, attentive apprentice. She put double the effort into all her tasks, even volunteering to complete less desirable tasks like checking the elders for ticks. She was determined to prove to her parents, siblings, and her clan that she was a strong, dependable cat, and that she'd be a valuable warrior some day. Though she was hard working, she was finding it difficult to stand out from her siblings. She couldn't jump exceptionally high, like her sister CreekPaw. She didn't have the large body frame or muscles for fighting, like her brother Owlpaw and sister Whitepaw. Nor did she have very impressive skills with hunting mice or catching fish, like her sisters Brownpaw and Blossompaw. Shadepaw was becoming increasingly frustrated. How was she supposed to show her parents and the rest of the clan how well she was doing if her siblings always out shined anything she did? After a time the effort Shadepaw put into her tasks began to dwindle. What was the point in being a good apprentice when no one knew what you were doing? It wasn't like Shadepaw wanted all eyes to be on her all the time or a big fuss made over her. She just wanted a little acknowledgement for all the hard work she did was all. Just a nod or a tail touch to let her know that her hard work was appreciated. Not even the elders, whom she was sure would appreciate the bile she brought for the ticks everyday, didn't seem to notice her extra effort. She began to shun her duties, sneaking off from her mentor to wander off by herself. Her mentor, Pebbleshine, would always have to leave her warrior duties to go off to find her. It was on one of these outings that Shadepaw climbed a tree to hide from her searching mentor. Spending most of the day in the tree, Shadepaw found that climbing trees was as easy to her as breathing. After that day when she'd sneak off, it would be to explore the tree tops of her clan's territory. Up in the tree tops, she had time to think about life and about herself. She had decided to get back into her tasks again. Just because her clan was blind to her dedication now didn't mean they'd always be, right? As she got back into her old route and into her apprentice tasks, Shadepaw began to take to the trees more and more when hunting. She found it easier than fishing or hunting mice. And up in the tree tops she didn't have to compete with her siblings or the other apprentices. Her mentor soon noticed that all Shadepaw's prey she brought back to the fresh kill pile were birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Not fish and mice which were her clan's normal prey. Fearing that her apprentice was prey stealing, Pebbleshine confronted her, demanding to know which clan's territory she was stealing the prey from. Shadepaw was furious with her mentor. Pebbleshine knew she was a loyal clan cat and that she'd never steal prey from another clan, didn't she? Shadepaw had no need to steal prey especially when she hunted so easily in the trees. Taking her mentor to her favorite trees, Shadepaw showed her mentor where her prey had come from, and even demonstraited her hunting. Pebbleshine seemed impressed, but also shocked. This confused Shadepaw, couldn't her other clanmates climb trees too? Her mentor informed her that they could, but not with such ease as Shadepaw seemed to have. But then Pebbleshine's shock turned to dissapointment. She told Shadepaw that their clan was a clan of the waters and rivers not of the trees and that she'd have to stop her tree climbing and hunting. Anger swelled up inside of Shadepaw. For once in her life she was better at something than someone else and her mentor was telling her to stop! After a heated argument, Shadepaw followed her mentor back to the clan camp. She had lied and said that she'd stop her tree climbing. She didn't of course. She spent her free time in the trees just like she had before, but this time instead of bringing prey from the trees back for her clan she'd bring a fish or a mouse. She was not going to let her mentor keep her from the only thing that brought sunshine into her life. Just because she liked to climbed trees, instead of swim didn't mean she wasn't a loyal clan cat.

[It's just one of those things]

Moons pass and Shadepaw is still an apprentice when the twolegs destroy her clans forest home with fire. She had been chasing squirrels in the trees when the fire started. Perched up high she was one of the first to see the flames and give out a yowl of alarm. Rushing back to her clan camp, she grabbed the scruff of a frail elder and all but dragged him all the way to the safety off the hills like a mother carrying an oversized kit. As she had dragged the elder she tried to locate her mentor in the sea of dashing, frightened cats. She and the elder had escaped unharmed. After the fire, food and fresh water were all but impossible to find. After the council among the leaders, deputies, and medicine cats three clans decided to stay and three deicded to leave for a new home, her clan was one of them. On the journey Shadepaw faced many new and often negative experiences. Cats round her falling ill and dying. No where for them to sleep safely, or eat in peace. Shadepaw, though still an apprentice went on many patrols by herslef to find her clanmates food and water. At night, she'd stay up as long as she could to keep watch for her clan. But things weren't going well. Leaders and deputies where dying, as well as healthy warriors. Everywhere she went the clans were attacked by rats, strays, dogs, or twolegs. Shadepaw's mentor Pebbleshine, during an attack by some stray dogs, was potecting an elder from Oakclan (now known as Darkclan) when she lost her footing, the dog seized the opportunity and grabbed her mentor by the throat, shaking her in his mouth like dead prey. Letting out the loudest yowl she could muster, Shadepaw attacked the dog, not caring for her own safety. She went for the face scratching at the eyes. The dog, now blinded, eventually retreated. But it was too late. As she progressed to her mentor she realized that she was already gone. As they continued their journey, Shadepaw took her mentors body with her and challenged any cat, even her leader, who told her to leave Pebbleshine's body behind. She was not going to bury her mentor in a twoleg place! A day or so after her mentor's death, the clans came upon a large lonely hill side. This is where she buried her mentor. Leaving her mentor behind, Shadepaw continued traveling with her clan. For moons they wandered and finally came across their new home. The territory that her clan had claimed had a large pond and flowing stream filled with fish, and fields for mouse hunting. But to her sadness her clans new home only had a few trees. But her spirit would soon brighten. Shadepaw was one of the first to be named a warrior by the clan's new leader LoudStar. Shadepaw's siblings had long ago recieved their warrior names. Pebbleshine and the clans previous leader had not named Shadepaw along with her siblings, both believing that she wasn't yet ready. Finally, after what felt like eternity, Shadepaw had recieved her warrior name, Shadefire.
